World Olivet Assembly churches around the world celebrated the Day of Family Church in May, giving thanks for God’s grace upon families established in Christ and renewing the calling of family churches to serve the Lord together.

This year’s celebration marked the 25th anniversary of the Day of Family Church. Across regions, families gathered for worship, prayer, messages from Scripture, testimonies, fellowship, and commemorative celebrations. The occasion became a meaningful time to reflect on the value WOA places on families, not merely as households of personal care and love, but as spiritual communities called to reveal Christ, pass down faith, and participate in the mission of God.

At a commemorative worship service, families gathered across generations, with parents and children worshiping together and listening to the Word of God. The message emphasized that the Day of Family Church is not simply a celebration of “family,” but of “family church.” Families in Christ are called to be more than ordinary homes seeking personal happiness. They are called to become households of faith, formed for discipleship, mission, and the expansion of the Church of Jesus Christ.

A central theme throughout the celebrations was that Christ must remain at the center of the family. Drawing from the image of “a cord of three strands,” the Word reminded families that the strength of a Christian home does not come only from husband and wife being together, but from both being woven around Jesus Christ. When Christ is the center, families can overcome difficulties, serve one another with love, and walk together as co-workers for God’s Kingdom.

In several regional celebrations, messages highlighted the family as a place where God’s love becomes visible. Since God’s love is often revealed through the way believers serve, forgive, and care for one another, a Christ-centered home can become a living testimony to the gospel. Families were encouraged to build homes marked by sacrificial love, patience, forgiveness, prayer, and obedience to the Word of God.

Other services reflected on the missional calling of the family church. The family was described not only as a place of rest and belonging, but as a spiritual base where faith is taught, children are raised in the Lord, and the gospel is lived before being proclaimed to the world. In this way, the home becomes a place where the Kingdom of God is first established and then extended to neighbors, communities, and nations.

The anniversary also carried a strong message for the next generation. WOA churches gave thanks for children and youth growing up within families of faith and emphasized the responsibility of parents to pass down not only values, but faith, vision, and devotion to Christ. The greatest inheritance a family can give is not worldly success, but a living faith in God and a heart committed to His Kingdom.

Across the celebrations, families were also reminded that Christian homes are built day by day through wisdom, understanding, humility, and grace. A family church is not a completed work, but a continuing journey of being shaped by Christ. Husbands and wives are called to love, respect, and strengthen one another, while parents are called to raise their children according to God’s Word with care and prayer.

Through the Day of Family Church, WOA reaffirmed its belief that strong, Christ-centered families are precious foundations for the Church and the Kingdom of God. In a world where many families face confusion, division, and instability, family churches are called to shine as homes of faith, peace, love, and mission.

As WOA looks back with gratitude on 25 years of God’s faithfulness, churches around the world continue to pray that every family will keep Christ at the center, live in undivided devotion to the Lord, and become a blessing to future generations and to the nations.
