Saint Luke Society 23rd General Assembly Reaffirms Gospel and Healing Mission

From September 21 to 22, Saint Luke Society (SLS) held its 23rd General Assembly, the first to be hosted in Southeast Asia. Delegates from Asia Pacific, China, Southeast Asia, and Latin America gathered with expectation for faith renewal, mission commitment, and vision-setting. The event took place in Chiang Mai, Thailand, a region seen as holding great potential for gospel expansion.

The Assembly opened with worship and a sermon from Matthew 11:1–12 under the theme “What Christ Has Done.” The message emphasized that Jesus’ ministry was rooted in teaching, preaching, and healing, revealing the kingdom of God not through force but through love, compassion, and sacrifice. Leaders were reminded that the gospel lifts up the fallen, comforts the broken, and proclaims good news to the poor. Delegates were exhorted to live out Christ’s way of the cross in humility and service, embodying the gospel through medical mission.

A special lecture further reaffirmed the vision of SLS: “Recovery of humanity through healing, and the Kingdom of God established on the Gospel.” Centered on the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the lecture highlighted that Christian mission flows from obedience to God’s Word and the power of salvation. Looking toward 2027, participants were called to labor together in faith toward the establishment of 200 centers, the raising of 5,000 leaders, and the nurturing of 50,000 members, joining in the wider church’s hope of reaching one million believers.

Regional reports from Korea, China, Latin America, and Southeast Asia testified to the advance of the gospel in diverse contexts. The Southeast Asia presentation was especially encouraging, showing leaders actively engaged in evangelism, Bible study, and discipleship. Delegates rejoiced at the evident work of God and were challenged to rededicate themselves to the unfinished task of global mission.

The closing service drew from Ephesians 1:17–23, focusing on the Apostle Paul’s prayer that believers may know Christ more deeply, have their hearts enlightened to the hope of His calling, and rely on the resurrection power that exalts Him above all authority. The message reminded participants that the church is Christ’s body, filled with His fullness, and called to proclaim the gospel to the nations.

The Assembly concluded in fervent prayer, with leaders uniting their hearts to seek the Spirit’s wisdom, strength, and guidance for the advance of God’s Kingdom through Saint Luke Society. Delegates departed with renewed conviction, resolved to uphold the gospel, embody Christ’s healing, and labor together until His kingdom is proclaimed to the ends of the earth.
