In Him Are Treasures: Reflecting and Proclaiming Christ This Advent

Advent 2024

As the calendar turns to December, the World Olivet Assembly reflects on the season of Advent with hearts full of reverence and gratitude. This season invites all believers to meditate deeply on the profound grace of the birth of Jesus Christ, God's only Son, and to cherish anew the richness of His fullness. The Advent season is a precious opportunity to draw near to the Lord, embracing the mystery and majesty of His incarnation, while fervently sharing this truth with those around us.

The Word of God reminds us in Colossians 2:2-4 that our hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love and reaching all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God's mystery, which is Christ. In Him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. These verses call each member of the body of Christ to a deeper contemplation of His immeasurable gift and the life-transforming power of His presence.

The birth of Jesus, a humble beginning in a manger, stands as the greatest manifestation of God's love and redemption for humanity. It is a story of divine humility and eternal hope, one that calls believers to align their hearts with the eternal purposes of God. In this season of Advent, members of WOA are exhorted to fix their eyes on Christ, who came to reconcile the world to Himself, bringing light to a world steeped in darkness.

As followers of Christ, it is not only a time to receive but also a time to give-to make known the fullness of Christ to those who have not yet encountered His saving grace. Just as the shepherds were entrusted with the joyous news of His birth, so too are we called to proclaim His love to our neighbors, communities, and beyond. The message of Advent is not confined to personal reflection but extends outward, encouraging believers to live as witnesses to the love and truth of Christ.

Throughout this month, let every heart be filled with thanksgiving and awe for the incarnation of the Son of God. Let us allow His love to knit us together in unity, as we grow in understanding and assurance of the riches found in Him. Let every family, church, and community within the World Olivet Assembly echo the message of the angels: "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom He is pleased!"

May December be a month marked by spiritual renewal, deeper intimacy with Christ, and boldness in proclaiming His gospel. In celebrating the birth of Jesus, we are reminded of the call to live as His witnesses, bearing fruit that glorifies the Father and testifies to His unending grace. May the fullness of Christ dwell richly in every heart, leading us into the new year with unwavering faith and a renewed commitment to His mission.
