Wednesday, February 26th is the commencement of the Lenten season. It is a time that believers of Jesus Christ meditate on the cross, death, and love of the Lord in preparation for Easter.Lent is a period of 40 days (not counting Sundays) starting on Ash Wednesday and ending on Easter Sunday.
It is a time that Christians prepare their hearts to celebrate the glory and victory of Christ through self-denial, repentance, and meditation of the suffering of Christ on behalf of sinners. The period of Lent first began in the lives of the believers in the early church in an attempt to prepare and train themselves for baptism on Easter Sunday. It was a time that also required fasting and later included the whole congregation to be involved.
This can be a time to not only meet the Lord deeply but for one's personal life of faith and ministry to be revived once again through the power of the resurrection. It is hoped that this season of Lent will be one engraved in the hearts of all World Olivet Assembly (WOA) to walk this path together with the Lord carrying the cross of love and sacrifice and together resurrect with Him as, without the cross, there is no resurrection.
Emphasizing that God works absolutely in those who bear the faith of the resurrection, WOA encouraged all leaders to embark on the 40 days with a strong focus and faith that this year's Easter will bring a great revival."I want to know Christ- yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead." - Philippians 3:10-11May this be engraved in the hearts of believers these 40 days of Lent.
