On August 15, the Olivet Teen Mission concluded its first training with seminars about guiding teens and a conference summarizing the week's activities as well as discussion on tasks when returning back to the mission field.
There were two seminars based on the book Connect by Jonathan McKee. They went into greater detail about "Outreach students," those who don't know Christ. The first lecture spoke about three kinds of outreach students: No Way, Not Interesting, Checking Things Out. It was then discussed how to raise these teens' spiritual desire to learn more about Christ and Christianity. The overall method is to connect with them.
Teen Mission ministers ought to find a common ground with them and ask them warm up questions when first meeting them. Though they will not change overnight, but each effort of guiding them will create a greater thirst for Christ.
Next, the final conference started with an overview of all that was done during the training and OTM International goals and prayer topics. Afterward, they discussed the roles that Livy, the Richmond Teen Mission volunteer who attended the training, would commit to after the training such as updating the Facebook page, writing articles, and uniting with the OTM headquarters. They had a time for a reflection on the week-long training which will be shared in greater detail in another article.
Additionally, the opportunity was then offered for her to be an official Olivet Teen Mission Richmond representative in which Livy and leaders will pray about more.
Praise God for guiding the week-long training from the beginning to the end. Please pray for the grace and knowledge received during this time will be protected well so that Richmond Teen Mission, as well as the OTM headquarter, could experience great spiritual renewal as a result of the training.
