OA India Help Churches on Contextualized Christology

Olivet Assembly of India is helping churches to teach Christology which Indians, absolute majority of them are Hindus to understand Christ in the context in which they live so as not to mixed up with the avatars of Hindu gods and goddesses.

Commenting on the possible issue, Missionary Rev. Dr. Philip Seo of Kolkata Church said, "Though Indians get to believe in Jesus, due to their background of pluralism, they lack absolute faith and dedication in comparison to other Christians who converted from other religions. Missionaries in India feel teaching Indians about this are hardest. This can be solved when Christology- who Jesus is- is taught precisely. I hope Indians get to know about Jesus well," he said.

Olivet Assembly of India representative Pastor Peter said, "Christology is perhaps the most important issue for Christians in India. As theologian Dr. Robert Peterson right said, 'Right understanding of Christ and Christology is the foundation of Christian orthodoxy and right teaching,' it is essential that Christology is emphasized and Christ is who is fully God and fully man is not reduced to only prophet, rabbi or an avatar, etc. OA India will do all possible to get the message right," he said.

"OA India has decided to make a guide on this so that all churches can use it and follow it," he said.

"This will be the main talking point in the upcoming gatherings as well," he concluded.
